my little cutie

So, I fell asleep after lunch today watching Blues Clues with Luke. I woke up to him sitting on me and saying "I love you mama" over and over again. Cutie. He had never said that to me before. I'll take that as a wake up call anytime! :)

Countdown...

*Car seat cleaned and ready to go: check.
*Hospital pre-registration: check.
*Teeny tiny diapers, wipes, and other baby hygiene things: check.
*Clean house: check.
*Take El Ed 340 final: check.
*A few baby clothes washed and ready to be worn: check. (can't wash them all... what if the ultrasound tech was wrong and this baby is not really a baby girl after all?! haha. Always a thought...)
*Make some bows and headbands to make baby look like a baby girl (If she's bald, at least she will have a bow): check.
*Do a last round of grocery shopping: on today's agenda
My doc is inducing me on the 9th at 6 AM if our little cutie isn't here by then! So, less then a week to go! I've been having some contractions, so who knows... maybe she will be here sooner. Now if we could just decide on a name!

Random August Events...

Since it's almost September, I thought I'd upload some pics of a couple fun things we've done this month. First up... there's been a lot of cousin lovin' going on! Haha. Luke loves his cousins, and since Kristen is nice enough to babysit him while I go to my Dr. appointments, he gets to see them quite a bit lately and can't get enough!
Luke and Gunnar. They give hugs when they see each other. So cute.
Busy boys...
Lily's birthday was this past week so we went to Chuckie Cheese for her party. Cute 4 year old! Happy Birthday Lily! and, Happy Birthday to Kristen who had a birthday yesterday!
Luke has been quite the helper lately... always helping dad mow the grass and "helping" me in the kitchen or with laundry. Has to play a part in everything or he gets pretty ticked.
We went to Austin for our friend Kip's birthday party and hit the outlet mall on the way home last weekend. Fun day!
Luke couldn't get enough of Ryan and Jake squirting him with the squirt gun...
Cuties in the pool...
friends...
hanging out!
Jake and his buddies in a hot b-ball game :)
The Ferguson's have a tractor so Luke was in heaven. He kept telling me he had to "fix it" so he could ride it. Tractors are one of his favorite things lately. When we get bored sometimes we go for car rides to look for tractors. Luckily there are always a bunch within minutes of our house!

Need a nap?

I came into the living room a few days ago to find Luke like this. He has always been able to fall asleep ANYWHERE... which is nice when I have to get some shopping done since he'll still sleep in his stroller. The only place he hates falling asleep is in his bed. Funny kid.

Shower!

Since my cute friend Kajsa and I are both pregnant with baby girls (and baby #2 for both of us!), my sis-in-law Kristen and our good friend Mandee threw us a baby shower. It was fun hanging out with so many friends, eating good food, and we both got so many cute things. Our babies are going to be stylin! Here are some pictures to show off what our talented friends did for us! I downloaded my pictures from the shower earlier today... then I just saw that Krista (our friend that is an awesome photographer) had posted pictures of the shower on her blog that were so much better then the ones I got! Haha.. so, Krista, I'm glad I've been slow posting so I could use some of your pics! haha. Big thanks to everyone that helped make it so fun!

Krista made this awesome cake...
Mandee made each of us a super cute diaper cake!
Here is mine!
Kajsa's!
Melissa made these fun party favors...
Kajsa and Me...
(I always close my eyes lately in pics... ugh!)
Fun times! Our friends are too good to us!

Visit from an Apostle...

Elder Russell M. Nelson has been in town this week for our stake conference meetings. Kevin W. Pearson of the first quorum of the 70 came along with him to reorganize our stake leadership. It's so nice to be reminded of where our priorities in life should be! It's been awesome having Elder Nelson speak to us. He is such an amazing man. After today's meeting we went up to shake Elder Nelson's hand. Luke had been pretty good during the talks, but by this time he was ready to be done with church for the day. Jake and I talked a little with Elder Nelson and then he shook Luke's hand. Luke just looked up at him and said in a whiny voice, "I want to go home..." Nice. Haha. At least he's just two and not twelve or something, right? Anyway it was an inspiring weekend, and I'm glad we were able to hear from an Apostle. Doesn't happen often in Texas!

Cutie Vocabulary...

A little conversation today...
Me: "Hey, put your cup on the table so you don't spill milk on the carpet"...
Luke: "MAMA!, that's IMPOSSIBLE!!!"

Huh? Where and when did he learn that word??
He makes me laugh! So funny and cute how kids pick up words... and use them when they don't even know what they mean yet!

Another amusing and not related recent conversation... (this one between me and jake).

Me: Luke, you get to go play with Lily and Gunnar when mom goes to the Dr!
Jake: Who babysat him last time you were pregnant and had to go to the Dr?
Me: Umm... Jake, Luke wasn't born yet last time I was pregnant.

Sea World

We love Sea World! I don't know what we're going to do when we get bored in some other city next year. Since we've lived in TX we have gotten season passes every year. It's fun! In just a few minutes drive we can be watching dolphins and whales, or swimming at the water park. Luke loves it there too, so we go as often as we can lately. Last night we went for a swim when Jake got home from school. I'm always worried our camera is going to be swiped or splashed on there, so we just about always leave it at home. I'm glad we finally got some pictures. Seems like all pictures of Luke lately are of him soaking wet, but that's been our summer this year! He can't get enough.
When we leave this spot, he always throws a tantrum... could play in here all day.

Lazy river...
Checking out the dolphins with dad..
A bunch of dolphins had babies this summer... it's fun to watch them!
Oh, and I wanted to give a shout-out to Play-Doh. It gets my babysitter of the week award. :) This kid sat and played with Play-Doh for hours at a time while I finished up a couple of classes this week. Yeah! Good stuff.

Bummer news ... our water heater stopped working last night and I'm not a fan of "refreshing" cold showers! Hopefully someone will be here to fix it soon, and I'll have some warm water again! Also, bummer #2... I went for my last jog this week. After reading about all these super ladies that jog until baby is born I thought I'd try to do that too. I guess my back and belly ligaments are protesting... lately they are all achy when I'm done. Bummer. Anyway, elliptical machines, swimming, and walking will be my friends till baby comes. Seems so crazy that she'll be here NEXT month! :)

Some funny stuff! :)

So, my friend sent me a link to her friend's blog, who had posted a really hilarious post. Maybe it's just because I'm pregnant too that I loved it... but I thought I'd share! I still laugh when I think about these sayings (that this friend of my friend thought would be great to put on some maternity T-shirts). If she ever does make shirts with these, I will buy one :) Haha. People seem to lose their courtesy filter when talking to pregnant people. People always have something to say to ya. Really. I've gotten all kinds of weird comments at the grocery store, sea world, everywhere. It would be so great to have a shirt to answer their annoying question or to respond to their statement. They wouldn't have to ask! Anyway, hopefully she hasn't copyrighted her blog or something because here are the funny and very true sayings she posted.
