yay!

For all of the people who think I'm lame for being a Utah Jazz fan... after tonight's game, they are 10-1. Pretty good, huh? They're currently #1. :)

hmm...

So, I decided to push the little arrow thing on the top of blogger to see whose blog would come up after mine, and this is what I found.
http://zigreal.blogspot.com/
Interesting. I can't read a thing on there, but I really want to see a chinese/japanese/korean... or whatever language it's in keyboard. How do they type that stuff?

tHanKs!

I was thinking this morning... Jake and I are so lucky that we have family close by to mooch off of! haha. We have borrowed a million baby things from Aaron and Kristen and it's been SO nice. I don't know if I would ever get a shower lately without the bouncy chair or the swing! I'm sure one day we'll have to buy these things (maybe in a couple years for baby #2 since Luke is quickly getting too big for them!) but for now- thanks guys for letting us use your things! Don't worry... we won't keep them forever since Gunnar is arriving soon! You guys are the best!

cutey's first haircut :)

Ok, so I was kind of sad about giving Luke his first haircut because I knew it would make him look so much older, but we finally did it... and what a little stud! He was even more blonde under the long wispy baby hair then I thought he would be! Where does he get that from?

I'm a thief...

After the second session of conference today, I decided to venture to a nearby scrapbook store to get some fun paper for tomorrow's project... making altered letters with Jenni and Kristen. So, I took along some ribbon I had purchased from hobby lobby to match the colors. I found just what I was looking for and went up to pay. After the lady handed me my bag of paid-for goodies, she grabbed the ribbon off of the counter which was by my purse and was like "um... you didn't want this, did you?" and snatched it like I was going to steal it. She practically accused me of "intent to steal" if there is such a thing... haha. So, I had to explain that I brought it in from another store and was just trying to match my stuff. Geez woman! She saw the hobby lobby sticker still on the box and was like... "oh, well we have some just like this" and reluctantly gave it back. What's bugging me is that I feel guilty about the whole thing and I didn't do anything wrong! like I really was going to steal something! Aaaa! Why? So annoying.

September is here...

This summer has gone by SO fast! I can't believe it's already September. This month always reminds me of back to school, and today I couldn't help missing that back-t0-school feeling. I love the stage of life I'm in now, but some days it would be fun to go back to second grade or to my freshman year at BYU and have some fun! Anyway, these are some of the things I miss the most about actually "going to school"... online classes just aren't the same!

* new school clothes
* in elementary school... book orders! art projects! recess! and chicken nugget days!
* hanging out with friends and lots of different people every day!
* new notebook paper, pencils, books and backpack
* the smell of erasers and crayons
* finding my classes and meeting new teachers
* in college and high school... the beginning of football season!!! also, other sports and intramurals.
* busy BYU campus... it's so alive in the fall!
* believe it or not... homework! and challenging projects with deadlines.... turning in big projects that you stayed up the whole night before to finish... such a sense of accomplishment!
* looking forward to school breaks and holidays... well, i guess i still look forward to jake's school breaks and holidays!
*learning so many new things and having all the time in the world to study
* the sound of the Star Spangled Banner in the morning and the bell at the end of the day
*having to get out of bed and ready for the day early in the morning... it's kindof hard to make myself do it now!

HapPy MaN

Mornings are my favorite. From about 7 until noon Luke is so much fun and in a great mood! You would never know he was such a colicky kid in the afternoon/evening! Hopefully being a happy camper all day isn't too far away!

yay!

We finally got a baby monitor and Luke spent all of last night in his room and crib. Woo hoo!

nO moRe JuNk..

So, I really am going to stop eating junkfood today!!! Well, maybe I can have ice cream once a week. :)
I don't think I could stop myself from having ice cream all together!... or maybe this picture is motivation to give that up... hehe.
I've been telling myself this every day for the past 3 weeks and almost every day I eat an oreo granola bar, cookies, or something equally dumb and full of empty calories. I've craved sugar so much more lately then I ever did when I was pregnant. Anyway, time to make this goal a reality!

Ants

This past week we have ants ALL over our house! Well, I should say all over the inside of the house. It's so annoying! Everywhere I go... the laundry room, our bedroom, the guest bedroom, the kitchen... AAaaa!!! I'm so tired of spraying for ants... and even more tired of being bitten! The dumb things won't leave me alone! Yesterday morning I woke up with a red bump on my forehead where I am sure one bit me while I was sleeping... and it has continued to get worse. This morning I looked Quasimodo as my forehead, the bridge between my eyes, and my left eye have all continued to swell. It's 5:30 in the afternoon my condition has not yet improved. So cute. Maybe I'll call an exterminator tomorrow....

FaSt sHoEs!...

When I was little, I believed that new shoes made me run so much faster. I remember vividly in second grade a pair that I was certain made me the fastest girl at recess. In my mind, I was by far the best at red rover and kicked my friend's trash at tag... all because of my cool shoes- hot pink and bright green LA Gear. They had a million shoelaces in all three colors found on the shoe... white, pink, and green. Yes, they were awesome. :)
Well, I never really got over feeling faster when I get new running shoes, and getting a new pair is always a highlight of my summer. I'm not so sure that my legs actually move faster or that my brain is so excited about the comfortable new Nikes or Newbalances on my feet that running just seems more pleasant. Maybe being quicker is just in my imagination (most likely) or maybe I really am!
Anyway, last weekend Jake and I went shopping and I got some new running shoes... "Nike Air Zoom Miller." I was SO excited to try them out... and yes, I think that because of them, I ran faster then I did the day before in my old shoes. They are way more comfy then my last pair was, and the bright green on them reminds me of my cool old LA Gear. They totally make me feel like a kid again.

A growing boy!

I think Luke is having a major growth spurt right now or something... I know he is heavier today then yesterday! Geez, now I really sound like a sappy mom. It used to bug me when moms would talk about how fast their kids grow up... but I'm finding out that it's true! Seriously though.. the little man is changing so fast! Yesterday, we had to buy the 8-12 lb diapers instead of the newborn ones! And, today when he was measured, he was 21 inches long... so he has grown an inch in legnth since he was born! Big boy!

A snug fit...

AAAAaaa!!! I can't zip up my white dress anymore. My belly is too big!! How depressing. It must have inflated several inches in the last 3 or 4 weeks!!! I tried it on like a month ago and thought I would have plenty of room in it to last through the end of the pregnancy! Sorry Jake. I thought that dress was big enough to fit during all seasons of life. Guess I was wrong! So much for temple plans tonight...

Weird!!

Okay, so usually I have really bad luck when it comes to just about everything. If something will go wrong it will happen to me. That's why I can't figure this out... so I took my final exam for a BYU correspondence class last week at UTSA, and left the testing center feeling like I very well could have failed the test. It was SO difficult. Actually, it was pretty ridiculous and I thought the whole thing was a rude joke. After finishing about six essays and tons of multiple choice questions I felt like I would get maybe a 75 on the thing... if I was lucky. I left the place feeling like a complete loser. Then, after getting about half way home I realized that I left my cell phone there. They make you turn in your cell to the front desk lady when you take the test.... even when it's turned off. So, my frustrations with the whole testing center experience mounted as I drove back to get my phone. To make things even better, these really obnoxious security parking guys kept saying stuff about me being so pregnant when I was walking back in to the place. How friendly. Why does everyone feel the need to comment lately? No, I'm not sneaking a globe under my t-shirt to cheat on a geography exam! Well, my test was graded by my professor and the score is now posted online. I'm not sure if I actually had some good luck for a change, or if my professor was sleeping when he graded my test, or if everyone else that took the class completely bombed the final and Dr. Jensen curved the scores. This past week and a half I have been so scared for my grade to be available, but I somehow ended up getting a 97! So weird! I'll take it though! :)
I'm just hoping that he didn't get me mixed up with someone else or something!

No more school!!... for now

Jake finished his last day of the school year today! Woo hoo!
He has done really well so far in dental school... never ceases to impress me. :) I'm so proud of him! Now he gets a two month break to hang out with me! (and pretty soon the baby too... 4 1/2 weeks until his expected arrival!) We celebrated the end of first year by going to Cold Stone. Yum! I had been craving chocolate ice cream all day (weird since I'm not usually a chocolate fan!) and it hit the spot. Now for the perfect ending to a really good day lets just hope that the Spurs win tonight...

Sundays

Sundays are great. I'm not a huge fan of 8 o'clock church when we get to bed late on Saturday night, but it's so nice to come home at eleven and have the whole day to relax. No school for Jake, no running errands, just time to be home together, eat, take a walk around the neighborhood, and just take it easy. It's great! Also, it's the only day I can take a two hour nap and not feel guilty.. haha. When we don't have cub-scout meetings after church it seems like we have so much time on our hands! Anyway, after a busy week, Sundays are the best.

Sad Day

Bye Petey... I hope your new owner is super nice to you!... and that you become great friends with her little poodle.

Um... Where's the Janitor?

Don't you hate it when it looks like you've done something really embarrassing when in reality it wasn't even you that did it? Well, that seems to happen to me a lot lately. Just dumb things that aren't really a big deal, but they bother me. For example, yesterday I went to the doctor as usual. The first thing they always have you do is pay a visit to the bathroom before listening to the baby's heartbeat. So I went into the bathroom (which is a single bathroom in the office... one toilet, one sink, etc.) and before I was going to do the whole sample collection thing I noticed that there was a huge wad of paper towels in the toilet. Seriously, this wad was the size of a grapefruit. Great. I thought I'd tell someone before I attempted to flush this wad that the toilet had a problem which needed to be taken care of. So, I left the bathroom thinking that the nurse was probably just in the room next door and could take care of it or something... but nobody was around! I gave up on waiting to find someone and decided to just go do my thing and hope that the wad would flush. To my surprise, when I flushed... the wad didn't even move! This massive mound of paper towels just sat there while the water swirled around it. I was sort of relieved that it didn't go down... because that may have caused the toilet to become really clogged or overflow or something... but now I just hoped that there wasn't someone waiting to use the bathroom now that would see me leave and think that I was the one dumb enough to put a million paper towels in the toilet (Seriously, what was the person thinking? There is a trash can in there..) I even contemplated for a second taking it out and putting it in the trash, but decided that the wad was way to disgusting to touch... how long had it been there? And, who knows what was on it? Well, to make the story short I left the bathroom and another patient was indeed waiting to enter. I tried to give her a heads up look and told her that the toilet was gross... But later, as I was leaving the office I passed her and she gave me a weird look. She probably had the same dilemma that I had while in there and thought that I was the one that messed up the bathroom. How embarrassing. Oh well... I guess I should be grateful that it was just another patient that I didn't know and not my doctor or someone I'll be seeing more of....

What a Guy...

Ok, well being pregnant does have its perks.. I mean, I've discovered that there are a lot of chores and things that should be avoided until baby arrives. No heavy lifting, no working around chemicals and fumes, no strenuous stuff, etc. It's great. See, today Jake is hard at work painting the baby room. We picked a Disney color called "silly old bluebird." It's a cute light blue. In the past we have painted rooms together, but this time he's all on his own... we wouldn't want to hurt the baby.. :) Anyway, I can't help but peek my head in the room every once in a while to critique his efforts. I'm kind of an annoying backseat driver this time around, throwing in commments like... "be careful not to get paint on the tape... you know it can get under there!... don't get paint on the carpet!... don't leave any white specks! etc, etc, etc." I guess the occational nagging just makes me feel like I'm playing some sort of a role in this paint job. (eventhough he would do just as good... maybe even better without my input) He's an awesome guy for putting up with me. Anyway, so far he's doing a great job! It really looks good. What a pro. Thanks Jake. :)

It's a BOY!

OK, now we really know! We're having a boy! Woo hoo! We're excited. All along, I've felt like we would have a baby boy for our first... I was right! Lately I can't stop looking at baby things. We're trying to restrain ourselves from buying all baby boy stuff in sight and days like today... Sunday... (when I've got a lot of time on my hands) it's hard not to look at all the cute baby websites and want to spend money! After finding out that we are having a boy, Jake and I spent one afternoon last week looking for the perfect advanced primate to put in the baby's room. It was so much fun. We ordered the cutest big stuffed orangutan ever! Between the orangutan and some fun crib bedding we found, we're quickly learning that babies can be pricey! They're so fun to buy for though! We've accumulated some things already since family has given us some super cutey boy pajamas, books, blankets, a couple of toys, along with a few other baby boy essentials. They're all sitting in the corner of this room for now, and every time I look at them it makes me smile.
When we were at church today we couldn't help but look at the babies in the ward and wonder what ours will be like. It was actually pretty comical. By the way, why is it that things are so much funnier in church? I couldn't stop laughing when my husband pointed out that one baby looks exactly like a mini Chris Farley... complete with moppy hair, a double (or maybe it's a triple) chin, and a funny expression on his face. Some babies were drooling all over, others were screaming and being taken out of the meeting, and some just slept the whole time. They're all so different!
Anyway, we're excited to meet our little guy! It will be so fun to see what he is like! June just seems so far away...
